From 27 October till 07 November, 25 students from ten nations (Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Greece, Hungary, France, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Serbia, Ukraine and
USA) participated in a NATO CIMIC Basic Course in Budapest, Hungary.
The Course was organised by the Hungarian Defence Forces
Civil-Military Cooperation and Psychological Operations Centre (HDF CMCPOC) in close
cooperation with the CIMIC Centre of Excellence (CCOE).
Moreover, the instructors from CIMIC Group South (Italy), JCMAG (France) and the
308th Civil Affairs Brigade and several guest instructors from the Hungarian Ministry of
Defence, the Miklos Zrinyi National Defence University and Various IOs and Hungarian
NGOs contributed to the course for the subjects: Cultural awareness, CIMIC and
INFO OPS, Legal aspects and Media.
There was a seven day indoor training including class studying and syndicate work followed by a three day field exercise at the training area in Taborfalva. CIMIC soldiers and a variety of civilian agency representatives from several nations gathered together with the common goal of learning more about the CIMIC and how it operates in order to accomplish their mission successfully. The course was held in a very cooperative spirit between the Hungarian team and the CCOE / NATO instructors. The course evaluation by the students and the instructor team expressed the overall satisfaction with the achievements made during the course. Finally, all participants were very impressed by the overwhelming support and hospitality of the Hungarian CIMIC staff.
