NATO CIMIC Basic Course

The NATO CIMIC Basic Course is the course for all CIMIC personnel at tactical level. Its aim is to provide the individual student with a thorough understanding of the definition, aim, components, principle tasks, function and organization of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) at the tactical level and a basic understanding at the operational level. After receiving additional mission-orientated training the students will be able to deploy and assume duties within CIMIC formations: CIMIC Support Units (CSUs), headquarters and liaison agencies with the focus on battalion and brigade level.

Length of the course

The NATO CIMIC Basic Course is a two-week course that runs from Monday to Friday. The first Friday lessons will end at approximately 15 pm. During the weekend there will be no lessons. Leisure time activities are all at your own expense. Information about leisure time activities is available at the CCOE SPT Branch, events Coordinator Office.
The graduation ends the course at around 12 pm. on the second Friday.

Preparations for the NATO CIMIC Basic Course

In the two weeks course proximally 55% of the time will be spent on practical CIMIC work and the final Course Exercise. Students are tasked to evaluate the given CIMIC tasks and present their product individually or as group-work in the classroom. Familiarsation prior to the course of the main CIMIC documents, the practical work and final Course Exercise scenario documents is in the benefit of the students success of the course.

The NATO CIMIC Basic Course meets the requirements to get a POTI Certificate

Students at POTI, concluding a classroom instruction (the CCOE NCBC can be computed), a distance education in twelve correspondent courses and a written thesis will receive a Certificate of Training in United Nations Peace Support Operations (COTIPSO).
