On 25 and 26 November 2014 CCOE Director Roel Been (NLD) traveled to Hungary. In particular he visited the National University of Public Service (NUPC), located in Budapest, attended a celebration at the Military Medicine Centre of Excellence, visited the Hungarian General Staff, the Joint Force Command J9 and the CIMIC / PsyOps centre.
During the visit he met Colonel Gábor Boldizsar (Dean Faculty of Military Science and Officer training) to discuss CCOE vision 2020 and the possibility of a closer cooperation between the CCOE and the NUPC. In order to continue the relationship Colonel Been invited the Dean to the Community of Interest (COI) workshop on February 2015 at the CCOE in The Hague.
CCOE Director also attended the celebration of the Military Medicine Centre of Excellence (MilMed COE) 5th Anniversary. The MilMed COE which provides training, experience and Subject Matter Expertise on military medicine topics. During the event, the Hungarian Minister of Defense gave a speech on how important COEs are for Hungary. The Director MilMed COE, Brigadier Dr. Kowitz, will pay a visit to The Hague in spring.
During the reception part of the Anniversary CCOE Director met with Colonel Tibor Jancsek from the Hungarian Defense Forces General Staff. Both emphasized the benefits of CCOE’s new location at The Hague and the benefits of being a Sponsoring Nation in CCOE.
An important outcome of that visit is how important visits of CCOEs Sponsoring Nations on a regular basis are in order to maintain a strong relationship, identify the need of the nations and increase also the visibility of the achievements of the CCOE.
