CCOE launches NATO CIMIC Analysis and Assessment Course with international participants and innovative training tools
On October 28, the Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence (CCOE) welcomed sixteen students from eight NATO countries as they embarked on the NATO CIMIC Analysis and Assessment Course (NCAAC). This course, designed to train participants in Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) analysis and assessment, equips students with the skills necessary for contributing effectively to military decision-making by analysing and understanding civil factors within an operational environment.
The NCAAC, held twice a year, is led by experienced NATO personnel and subject matter experts. Students engage in a rigorous curriculum covering frameworks, tools, and techniques essential for creating impactful CIMIC Analysis and Assessment products. Starting with an overview of the latest advancements in CIMIC, participants began an in-depth exploration of the CIMIC Analysis and Assessment workflow, examining its stages and responsibilities. Throughout the course, students are introduced to Structured Analytic Techniques (SAT), enabling them to generate precise, well-supported insights regarding the civil factors of the operation environment that directly impact military operations.
A highlight of this session is playing "ANALYSIA," a unique war game designed to reinforce the learning experience. Through ANALYSIA, students witness the complexities of the civil-military dynamic firsthand, gaining practical insights into the intersection of military objectives and civil factors. The course also includes sessions on Publicly Available Information (PAI), Open Source Information (OSIF), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). These topics aim to enhance efficiency and promote the development of high-quality CIMIC Analysis and Assessment products.
Through this program, NCAAC participants are expanding their expertise and skill sets, empowering them to contribute value to their respective organizations, both internationally and nationally, at various headquarters and operational units.
The CCOE looks forward to supporting further meaningful learning experiences as the course progresses.
