Background for the CIMIC Mission Support Application for mobile (“smart”) devices and the CIMIC database:

Mobile devices are a powerful and personal tool. There are more devices than people on Earth. They are not only communication devices, but also high resolution cameras, video and audio recorders, GPSs and information repositories – they are sensors. Tactical users lack a performance support tool that allows them to quickly, easily, and effectively capture and organize information gathered in the field; supplement it with information from existing data bases, documents and reference guides; and share it with others.

CCOE’s idea was to develop together with our Community of Interest a mobile app framework (frontend & backend) for supporting the military decision making process in CIMIC focusing on planning, preparation, monitoring, structured data collecting and reporting. During the exercise  the Mission App and the CIMIC database will be tested and validated. The training & testing audience will be CIMIC operators from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, USA taking part in the exercise.
