NATO CIMIC Functional Specialist Course

Subjects of the course:

• Understanding the CIMIC-FS role when supporting CIMIC core activities.
• Demonstrating functional expertise in accordance with NATO CIMIC doctrines.
• Comprehending the working mechanisms of NATO, EU and the UN.
• Experiencing and becoming sensitive to cultural diverse environments.
• Gaining Cross-Cultural Competences for successful intercultural communication.
• Providing functional expertise for analysis’, assessments and reports of the Civil Factors of the Operating Environment.
• Liaising with the required stakeholders needed to give precise functional expertise.
• Advising the commander, staff and CIMIC personnel on particular functional area aspects.
• Contributing to civil-military information sharing.

Prerequisites:

• CIMIC personnel (OR-5 – OF-4) or civilian equivalents.
• Language proficiency: Students must meet the following standards of proficiency in English (as described in STANAG 6001):
  Officers: listening – good/3, speaking – good/3, reading – good/3, writing – fair/2 or civilian equivalents.
  Non-commissioned officers:  listening – good/2, speaking – good/2, reading – good/2, writing – fair/1 or civilian equivalents.
• Successful completion of the Advanced Distribution Learning (ADL) modules ADL 037 and ADL 143.

Iterations:

The NCFSC is foreseen to be conducted in 3 iterations per year. The duration is one week.
