Case Study Ukraine
The full scale Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine as of 24th February 2022 displays a scenario that can be considered the closest to what NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) can expect from a potential collective defence scenario. In NATO, the necessity for a greater level of preparedness and society resilience is included in Article 3 of the Washington Treaty. The process that should lead to the activation of a collective defence scenario is addressed in Articles 4 & 5. The current war in Ukraine highlights the necessity of preparing adequate responses to shocks, hybrid aggressions and armed attacks that might be inflicted on member states of the Alliance.
