This new scenario will replace the current TYTAN (Africa-based) scenario and will include creating a comprehensive country book, developing a road-to-crisis storyline, and supporting the creation of a scenario introduction video.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact NATO educational product, gain experience in training development, and work closely with subject-matter experts in CIMIC and civil-military planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on political, cultural, social, and security-related aspects of the Baltic region.
  • Support writing and structuring a detailed country book for the scenario.
  • Assist in drafting a coherent road to crisis, including triggers, actors, tensions, and escalation dynamics.
  • Contribute to the scriptwriting and conceptual development of an introductory scenario video.
  • Prepare course-supporting documents, maps, narrative texts, and exercise materials.
  • Coordinate with the Course Director and other team members to ensure scenario consistency.
  • Provide general support to the NCFWC/NCSWC scenario update process.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program (preferably in International Relations, Security Studies, Political Science, Communications, or a related field).
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).
  • Strong writing and editing abilities.
  • Ability to conduct structured research and summarise complex information effectively.
  • Good organisational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
  • EU or NATO member state citizenship (required for access to the CCOE).

Preferred (but not mandatory) Skills

  • Experience in scriptwriting or creative writing.
  • Familiarity with scenario development, wargaming, or training design.
  • Understanding of NATO structures, civil-military cooperation, or international security.
  • Basic skills in video production, graphic design, or storyboarding.
  • Interest in the Baltic region’s geopolitical landscape.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic multicultural working environment within a NATO-accredited centre.
  • The chance to contribute directly to a key NATO training course.
  • Mentoring and professional guidance from CIMIC experts.
  • Opportunities to attend selected training sessions or CCOE events.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • A meaningful internship that strengthens your CV with real-world defence and security experience.
