Internship Scenario Development Support (4–6 Months T&E)
Start Date: February 2026
We are seeking a motivated and creative intern to support the development of a new training scenario set in the Baltic region for the NATO CIMIC Field Worker & Staff Worker Course (NCFWC/NCSWC). This new scenario will replace the current TYTAN (Africa-based) scenario and will include creating a comprehensive country book, developing a road-to-crisis storyline, and supporting the creation of a scenario introduction video.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact NATO educational product, gain experience in training development, and work closely with subject-matter experts in CIMIC and civil-military planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on political, cultural, social, and security-related aspects of the Baltic region.
- Support writing and structuring a detailed country book for the scenario.
- Assist in drafting a coherent road to crisis, including triggers, actors, tensions, and escalation dynamics.
- Contribute to the scriptwriting and conceptual development of an introductory scenario video.
- Prepare course-supporting documents, maps, narrative texts, and exercise materials.
- Coordinate with the Course Director and other team members to ensure scenario consistency.
- Provide general support to the NCFWC/NCSWC scenario update process.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program (preferably in International Relations, Security Studies, Political Science, Communications, or a related field).
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).
- Strong writing and editing abilities.
- Ability to conduct structured research and summarise complex information effectively.
- Good organisational skills and an eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
- EU or NATO member state citizenship (required for access to the CCOE).
Preferred (but not mandatory) Skills
- Experience in scriptwriting or creative writing.
- Familiarity with scenario development, wargaming, or training design.
- Understanding of NATO structures, civil-military cooperation, or international security.
- Basic skills in video production, graphic design, or storyboarding.
- Interest in the Baltic region’s geopolitical landscape.
