CCOE in the US: Supporting Operation SLUSS-TILLER

Together stronger! Based on the excellent working relations and cooperation between the CCOE and the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS) the CCOE supported the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) during their Operation SLUSS-TILLER.

Therefore CCOE Senior Enlisted Advisor Dennis Müller – Senior Chief Petty Officer within the Concepts, Interoperability, Capabilities Branch – went to the US to assist there with his special knowledge to bring in his personal experiences from missions and CIMIC/ CMI expertise out of the CCOE.

Müller acted as an Enhancement Coach providing the students real-world feedback during their engagements within the operation. This feedback allows them to gain the necessary knowledge base to utilize when they find themselves in engagements on missions in the future.

“I enjoyed again the hospitality and fruitful cooperation with the US Civil Affairs comrades. I can bring in my knowledge about NATO CIMIC and CMI and I learn a lot about US Civil Affairs procedures and how they handle their aims and tasks in missions. This gives me and the CCOE also deep insights and input for our actual big project: the update of the CIMIC Handbook for NATO”, stated Müller after his return.

Operation SLUSS-TILLER is the culmination exercise of the Civil Affairs Qualification Course (CAQC) conducted at Fort Bragg/ NC.
