“Excellent in quality and participation” – The CMI Workshop 2015

Over 100 participants from 17 nations were shaping future ‪operationalization of NATO Civil-Military Interaction (CMI). The NATO CMI Workshop was conducted from 23 to 25 November 2015 at the CCOE in The Hague. It has been a unique opportunity to discuss the future of CIMIC and CMI amongst a wide range of military and non-military actors in an trustful and respectful atmosphere. The workshop was opened by CCOE Director Colonel Roel Been and the J9 from Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Rear Admiral Denis Bigot (read the opening speech here).

The Workshop was led by an outstanding senior Workshop Director Mr. Michael C. Ryan who was supported by the highly recognized Comprehensive Approach Advisor to NATO, Lieutenant General (retired) Ton van Loon. Both impressed the audience with excellent key notes and inspiring performance.

The participants complimented on the organization, discussion and great networking opportunities. The Workshop syndicates focused on the topics: Civil-Military Interaction in leadership – training – organization – information – doctrine and interoperability. The syndicate outcomes were presented and discussed with all participants. The results of the Workshop will be assembled by the CCOE and presented to J9 SHAPE for implementation.
