Preparation phase for the Resilience through the Civil Preparedness Course

The preparation phase for the Resilience through the Civil Preparedness, Satellite Course in Italy has now concluded!

This essential training is set to take place at the Multinational CIMIC Group in Motta di Livenza, Italia, under the guidance of the CCOE Course Director, OF-4 Pawel POLAK (POL A) and in collaboration with OF-4 Mario FRANCAVILLA (ITA A), Host Nation Course Director.

Given the current security landscape on NATO’s Eastern flank, the present challenges underscore the urgent relevance for such training, emphasizing the crucial role in fostering preparedness and resilience in these uncertain times. The context for this training aligns closely with real-world scenarios where NATO CIMIC Forces could be called upon for deployment within the NATO territory.

At the 2023 Vilnius Summit, Allied Leaders reiterated the Alliance’s commitment to strengthening resilience as an essential basis for credible deterrence and defence. They highlighted several areas that will require further collective and individual attention, including societal resilience, health systems, and critical infrastructure. These 2023 Alliance Resilience Objectives aim to enhance NATO and Allied preparedness against strategic shocks and disruptions. In summary, the objectives focus on bolstering resilience across various domains to ensure the Alliance’s ability to withstand challenges and maintain security and stability.

Therefore, the objective of this course extends beyond simply preparing troops for potential NATO CIMIC Force deployments, but the course aims to provide senior civilian and military experts with an understanding of the various aspects of resilience within respective areas of responsibility. It teaches the relationship between civil preparedness and improved operational effectiveness, thereby creating awareness and appreciation of the strategic layer of resilience on Operational Level.

The instructors from Belgium, Germany,  Italy, Poland, and Türkiye are looking forward to welcoming a diverse group of 24 highly motivated students representing different nations. The course participants, represent and will share their different capabilities and perspectives. They will begin this one-week course starting on February 5th.
