Start of NATO CIMIC Courses in Italy, supported by the CCOE

This week the NATO CIMIC Field Worker Course (NCFWC) and the NATO CIMIC Staff Worker Course (NCSWC) started at the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) in Motta di Livenza, Italy. The courses were opened by the Commander of MNCG Colonel Incisa di Camerana on Monday 13 April 2015.

jjjjkkkThese NATO accredited courses are designed to train CIMIC Field and Staff Workers in parallel, enabling the 35 participants that came together in Italy to conduct CIMIC activities across the full spectrum of military engagement in a modern operational environment.

Next to military participants from different countries, civilian participants who work at different International Organizations (IOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) joined these courses. This mix of participants from different nations, cultures and professional backgrounds helps to understand Civil-Military Relations and provides the participants with the perfect foundation to start their professional CIMIC experience.

The role of the Headquarters Multinational CIMIC Group within NATO is to be prepared to deploy on order of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, to an area of operations, for sustainment and rotation, for prolonged operations and to undertake combined, joint military operations across the operational spectrum. The role of the unit is to engage in the civil and military cooperation giving full support to the NATO military Commander on the field. To be able to fulfill this task the training and education of CIMIC personnel is essential. The NATO accredited NCFWC and NCSWC is part of this training preparing personnel to be deployed to NATO operations. 

The courses will end on Friday 24 April 2015 providing the participants with knowledge and skills transferred by several lectures and a variety of practical assignments during a complete 2 weeks program.
